Date Night Ideas │ ELLEKATE

Date Nights.
Now that I have to travel about a half hour on the train to see my boyfriend, we kinda now have to organise and plan out our nights ahead of time rather than just sitting in my room watching endless Netflix. Regardless, wether you live away from you love or if you are just wanting some ideas to help with keeping the relationship interesting, then I have been thinking about some ideas which you can try out.

Not so long ago I would sit and search through article upon article on Pinterest, trying to find ideas of what would be a nice idea for the day / night for Jack and I to do. After all of that searching I realised that its not all about the ideas, its what you find what works well in your relationship. Growing better together and honestly just discovering what common interests you both have, arranging things around them. What your about to read, are just a few ideas, you should play around with them to fit you budget and most importantly you relationship. Anyways, this could be ideas for even just you and your bestie if you are single and proud to be.

1. Classic Cinema Trip.
Something, which I feel has died out over recent years is the past few years is a nice trip to the cinema. Next few months have a good few flicks coming out, recently I went to go see Bridget Jones Baby! If the first films related to me on a personal level this did just too much, minus the pregnant part. The entire movie had me crying with laughter. Hows about you have a search for up and coming movies together, finding a one of interest and making a little trip to the movies. But rather than just your average lets go see a movie trip, hows about taking a picnic ? If you bring a big enough bag then you are ready for you little quite cinema trip picnic. Not only is this a money saver, its also fun when theres a quite turn out for the viewing. Then you don't have to worry about rustling that bag of crisps. If you are on a serious budget, create yourself a home cinema! Get some blankets and fairy lights and your all time favourite movie, sorted!

2. No Social Media Allowed.
Some say that romance died when technology took over, personally I disagree, without it my Mum wouldn't be able to speak to my dad everyday via FaceTime. But, it would be fun having no distractions. So for the whole evening, there is no technology or social media allowed. You can do what ever you both wish, your just not allowed to touch your phones. You could, go for a nice meal, play boardgames together, drive to anywhere, take a class together or make your own dinner. Thats the best part about this date idea, you can do whatever you wish but take away the phones you will both find yourselves communicating much more.

3. Go to a 'Game' Together.
Everyone has there own 'Local Team' in what ever sport that takes your interest, or not! Hows about going taking a trip together to the next match, wether it be football, hockey, basketball, its up to you. Get kitted out head to toe to show the up most support. Its a fun change to your average date. Our university have a Rugby team whom are doing really well in the playoffs, for the match the other night not only was there a great turn out but my friend had a first date with a boy she met during freshers, so thank you for the idea. Think I will be attending the next game.

4. Go for a Walk to nowhere.
Hows about, getting up a bit earlier than normal. Making no plans for the day ahead but just leaving the house, wearing some good walking shoes and both just go for a walk, you could end up anywhere. That is the joy of it. Just going with the flow, wether you want to have a nice talk or just walking along enjoying the company of one another! Something I have always really wanted to do, personally, with always having to stick to a day plan with work and university. To have a day with no plans yet still doing something would be such a relaxing things to do.

5. Grub Up
Get yourself onto Pinterest and plan out a lovely meal you can both have together. We are talking, Starter, Main course, Deserts and even sides. Write out a nice shopping list and head to the local farmers market or if not the supermarket, and gather all your ingredients. After you have made all the food light a few candles, and then you have a nice cheaper alternative to eating at a fancy restaurant. Plus if you both cannot cook, don't worry that just adds to the fun.

6. Make up a Date Jar
If you find it hard to come to final decisions, then why not make a date night jar. Choose how many sticks of ideas you want to put into your jar and then split them equally into four categories, you will then need four coloured pens one for each category. Theses categories should be Free, Stay at Home, Planing Required and Spontaneous. For the next part both sit down with a pen each and start going with the ideas. If you get stuck don't worry there are plenty of pre made ones on Pinterest. Once your done just place them all into a jar, next time you are both stuck on date night just pick one out and your ready to go.

7. Find a Place to Stay.
Bit more on the costly side, but for any special occasions or even just a need to get away from reality for the evening! Hows about a little search of local / not to far away bed and breakfasts or lodges that you can both retreat to for the evening. It could be for just the night, or a couple more! I have been a big fan of using Groupon at the moment and this isn't an add for them. But there has been some terrific over night stay deals and spa breaks in my local area over the past few weeks, so its worth a little search on sites like that also.

8. Good Deeds
Honestly, this won't be to everyones taste and its not exactly a 'Date' idea. But this is something myself and my boyfriend have been planning over the past few weeks! An animal shelter is near mine, who do receive a lot of help from the community. They have a food bank inside of the local supermarket that is always full which makes me very happy. Getting back on subject. Towards christmas we are going to purchase and collect as many blankets as we can to take to the shelter together and spend some time with the animals (mainly the kitties). Not only is it nice giving back, its fun to go with each other and spend some time just helping out.

9. Get on it with some Fitness.
Good for your health, and not lying on the couch eating pizza together (as nice as that is). Getting fresh air and doing exercising improves mental and physical health also. But I am getting off track, not only is it all that. Its actually really fun to do together, I and Jack have been on quite a few runs over the years and having someone to help motivate you is a big health. To be honest, Jack can be super pushy when we are doing exercise! He once had be doing circuits on the sand... But there are plenty of ways to get fit outside of running, such as, cycling, going to the gym, yoga, swimming and maaaany more.

10. Rent a Big old fancy Car.
Going away for the day, or even a week. Its fun sometimes to live a life that isn't exactly your own. So why not rent a car for your travels and have a few days in someone else's shoes. The people at 'Turo' messaged me for this post and gave me the great idea for this post. You can even rent out your own car, which I think is a seriously good idea, especially if you are into collecting models and just have them sitting around! You could make a bit of cash out of your hobby. Personally I cannot wait to travel back to Florida, and when I go this time I want to stay in a villa. So I went on the site and have a look into what cars were available in the Orlando area, pleased to say the first car that popped up was my dream car a Ford Mustang. But if you live in the US, go on and give it a look ill leave the link for the site below.

  3. These are all really great ideas. I think drive-in cinemas is a great twist to cinema night; essentially the same idea but something about being outdoors in the open makes it even more fun!
